Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all are doing well during this holiday time, and that you are able to relax and enjoy the day. Over the past couple weeks leading up to thanksgiving, I have heard a great deal of people talking about gratitude and finding the different blessings to celebrate within our lives. However this year has been a stressful one, and this Thanksgiving does look a lot different for many families this November. Many challenges fall before us as we try and figure out what this season will look like. It may feel really discouraging with how hectic everything is. But I would encourage everyone to try and remain joyful, and hold tight to the things that make life so special.
Something that can help us to live joyfully in gratitude is peace. I think peace plays such a big role in not only how we feel, but in how we view the world. If we feel disorganized or agitated, it makes it much more difficult to be in a calm state of mind. God doesn’t want us to be in a state of disarray. He desires for us to have tranquility in Him. Colossians 3:15 says “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Through this verse we can see that the Lord grants this to us as His children, and it is a gift for us to claim. The words spoken in this verse bring comfort to me in my own life. It’s nice to be reminded that peace is freely given to those who choose to except it. We just have to remember to be thankful for that gift as God hands it out. During this holiday if anything is heavy in your life, I also encourage you to take hold of God’s peace.
So the question I pose to you all is this, what are you thankful for today? What has given you life and brought you to a place of joy? It could be something small or something big. It could be the people in your life, or an experience that you have had. It can be anything that you want it to be. Just remember to hold on to that and celebrate it today. God is good, and He has given us so much in our lives. New blessings appear each day, we just have to look for them. Thank you for taking the time to read this short post. I just wanted to reach out to you all and spread some encouragement and hopefully brighten your day just a little more. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
